Postby er.manishawasthi » Wed Jan 07, 2009 10:53 am

I'm working in data loading project .
T times i recieve task to load data into PDS or ps file.

I would like to know if i have X records in my file . Then how much storage space . , Track size and block size to allocate....

The X varies from diffrent to diffrent tasks.......genrally 1 lakh to 6 lakh

Hello,

Please see if this helps:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... 1001/B.1.1?

It might be a good idea to talk with your storage admins as they may already have something you can use - many systems have a process that performs space calculation for the dasd models being used.
Hope this helps,

Hello,

Dividing the number of records expected by the number that will fit on one track gives the number of tracks required.

Divide by 15 (and round up) to find the number of cylinders required.
Hope this helps,
