Just to add, when something doesn't seem to work, sit and think about why it isn't working. In your case everything went to the file which said "no pipe here". So what was in that position? It is easy to find out: add a TESTING OUTFIL which does BUILD=(1,1,1,10,TRAN=HEX). Assign the TESTING DD to SYSOUT. In fact, with your file, that will fail, and tell you why. But as a general resolution to "why doesn't the data do what I think it should?" you should look at the data.
