Hi,

Thanks for the reply

But i'm confused. Still now i didn't work on PL/I. When i search in IBM website i can find DB2 & PL/I certification,

So far i've worked in JCL,COBOL,VSAM,CICS. Can you please let me know what kind of certification would be better to for me to have a career in mainframe.

I'm comfortable with programming.

If i want to do a certification in PL/I what are the books would be more preferable & any centers that teach from basic

Thanks a lot in advance :)

There are two PL/I books available online, "PL/I Structured Programming" by Joan K. Hughes and "The PL/I Programming Language" by Paul Abrahams.

Both are obviously well out of date with regards to Enterprise PL/I and a more up-to-date version is "The New PL/I" by Eberhard Sturm, which is not free.

To actually use PL/I, you can still find the old DOS(!) Digital Research version, or the version from Iron Spring (OS/2 and Linux). Getting an account on a certain publicly accessible z/OS 1.6 system running under Hercules will give you access to Enterprise PL/I V3.3.
