I am not a cobol programmer but this customer has an issue with cobol and db2 (which I handle)
the system is a vse (recent version) with cobol II
we have been using this to connect to db2/vm without any problems
as we have migrated to db2/udb we want to use clob (long objects) columns in db2
we have seen that for inserting this data this can be done by use of varchar datatype
but in cobol we define the length indicator for these fields as pic s4 which means only 4 positions (9999)
how do we define variables with bigger size than 10000 ?
is there any location where we could find a sample of handling clob from cobol in read or write
as long as we use smaller vars we can insert without problems, but have another problem when using cyrillic characters.
any help/link is welcome
best regards, guy przytula
