To store and display Japanese characters using COBOL DB2

Postby prasad75 » Tue Nov 15, 2011 7:46 pm

Hi,

We are trying to display Japanese characters using Stored procedure.

Initially we are using a batch program to insert the japanese chars into a Db2 tabke like below.

MOVE FUNCTION DISPLAY-OF
(FUNCTION NATIONAL-OF
(IN-JAPAN-NAME,1399),1208)
TO WS-TXTLINES-UTF8
1399 - CCSID for Japanese
1208 - UTF-8 format

Now we are using a Stored procedure to retrieve the Japanese chars and display it. (Using GTT (Global Temp table method).

MOVE FUNCTION DISPLAY-OF
(FUNCTION NATIONAL-OF
(IN-JAPAN-NAME-FROM-TABLE,1208),1399)
TO OUT-JAPAN-TEXT

But we are not able to display Japanese chars in the output. Are we using the right CCSIDs? Please advise.
