Postby chatwithbee » Tue Dec 09, 2008 7:57 am

i defined a GDG but i have been trying to delete it. i use this code:
//STEP1 EXEC PGM=IDCAMS
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN DD *
DELETE (pds.BACKUP) GDG FORCE
/*
it gives a RC[=8, saying
IDC3012I ENTRY KC03F75.BACKUP NOT FOUND
IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 8 - REASON CODE IS IGG0CLFO-0
IDC0551I ** ENTRY KC03F75.BACKUP NOT DELETED
IDC0001I FUNCTION COMPLETED, HIGHEST CONDITION CODE WAS 8

yet if i try to redefine the GDG it says
IDC3013I DUPLICATE DATA SET NAME
IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 8 - REASON CODE IS IGG0CLEH-38
IDC3003I FUNCTION TERMINATED. CONDITION CODE IS 12

Hello,

Try this to delete the base:
//SYSIN    DD *
  DELETE   KC03F75.BACKUP PURGE

after deleting all cataloged generations.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.
