Normally from the ISPF primary option menu, we go to VPS screen selecting option number 10. There we use command option 2 for Display VPS printer list, there we see the printer status.... It looks like below:

MBR_NAME    LUNAME     WAITING STATUS     SELECTION_CRITERIA
printer1    printer1      NONE IDLE       C=AJM D=ASH3
printer2    printer2      NONE IDLE       C=J D=ASHHPLJ1

Thanks

Hello,

Suggest you talk with your system support people and learn how to get this same info in batch. You could then use it to determine if an e-mail is to be sent.
Hope this helps,

Hi Dick,

I guess the TS (kalyanbrata.dhar) is checking the status of VPS printer in TSO ( TSO VPS) or he might have different configuration in SDSF >> PRT.
However, in few sites this is controlled by Automation tool, it shouts a message on the console and operator can pick it up....

kalyanbrata.dhar>> Could you confirm is there any automation tool installed at your site.

Hello,

Possibly, which is why i suggested checking in batch - tso can be run in batch. . .
Hope this helps,

Hi Dick,

Sir could you explain how a "TSO can be run in batch", I always thought we have an address space TCAS running in MVS environment which accepts TSO logins...Are you also reffering to the same thing???

Thanks.!!
