SORT CAPACITY EXCEEDED

Hi

I have a query on SORT. We are using SORT program to extract records from a huge file(9 VOLSER) , but we are getting user abend 16. It says 'SORT CAPACITY EXCEEDED'. I am using Simple SORT .I acn use only simple SORT.
The i/p file is of length 32756.
Am pairing the input file with another file whihc is having 147 records (LRECL-4096).
The SORTJNF2 has trans-id ,for all the trans-id s from 147 records I need to extract the corresponding records from the SORTJNF1(LRECL-32756).
But am getting user abend 16.

-ERROR IN JNF1 PROCESSING
-SORT CAPACITY EXCEEDED
-APROX RCD CNT 4668323

ABEND=S000 U0016 REASON=00000000


Please help me out in resolving the issue.

Hello,

As you chose to not post the info needed, i can only guess that somewhere you have run our of space. . .

If you post the jcl, control statements, and all of the informational messages (including the message id's) generated by the run, we can possibly tell you more.

Hello,

Those are not all of the informational messages generated by the job - there are probably more in JESMSGLG
and JESYSMSG.

Is there some reason there is no SPACE specified for the output file. . . ;)

I could not find any other information regarding the abend I got either in JESYSMSG or JESMSGLG other than what I have posted.

That is not all the output from sort - the message identifiers are missing for a start.

Your jobstep should have a failure message as well and there will be a failure message in the system messages.

And what about your non-specification of space for the output dataset?
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Hello,

For someone to be able to really help (and not waste time because you are not willing to post all of the info), you need to provide the requested info. . .

You will probably need to allocate some SORTWKxx DDs as well. . .

I am posting all the information that I got for the job in my SPOOL(not only the info related to abend but all the info related to the job).I have used 60 SORTWORK files(I read 255 is the maximum SORTWORK that we can give in some post.)
The INPUT.FILE1 has 9 VOLSERs.

I have tried giving more SORTWORK files but still it is giving the same abend.
Every time is it abending at same processing point.

I don’t think the i/p file itself has some problem at that instance because it contains all the real time data logged in it.

I have highlighted the lines that I have posted previously as error messages.
I could not see any other messages which relates to the Abend other than what I have posted earlier. I am very sorry if I missed out in mentioning any messages from these previously, which is regarding the Abend.

Please let me know is it because of the SORTWORK files or any other reason. Do I need to give still more sort work files?

If SORTJNF1 contains all unique records and there are duplicates in SORTJNF2, try swapping the SORTJNFn DD specifications. Be sure to reflect this change in your JOINKEYS and REFORMAT statements as well.

If not, then try increasing the number of dynamically allocated SORTWKs:
//STEP1 EXEC PGM=SORT,PARM='DYNALLOC=(,100)'
