No - JCL does not do that. It only tells the machine what programs you want executed, the resources those programs require and the sequence of processing.

You can try running IDCAMS to list datasets by HLQ (High Level Qualifier). You can read up about the various options in the manual.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

By using IDCAMS we are not able to meet our recommendation like we are able to list only creation date. But we need allocated tracks or cylinders also. can you please provide any example.

why not speak to Your storage support group ???
anyway the buzzword is DCOLLECT

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Why? The Access Method Services for Catalogs manual already shows you FIVE examples of using DCOLLECT. You should be able to take them and get what you want (use the appendix F for the record structures you need). This is a HELP forum, not a WRITE-THE-CODE-FOR-YOU forum.

Or look at the VTOC program found in file 112 at cbttape.org. I find that much easier to use than dollect for reports like the one requested.

I agree that many of the tools of the CBT tape are really useful BUT ;)

the times have changed,
software installation is not as relaxed as it used to be once upon a time
and free software installation is almost impossible
too may authorisations, legal, security, add as many as You want

not even taking into account that most of the people asking here are at a very low level in the food chain
both for decision making and competence to advise about it
cheers

Hello,

Just my penny's worth, an absolute beginner and lazy no frills approach - do a SAVE LIST in ISPF 3.4 for the HLQ; trim the dataset thus generated using 'trick usage' of X (EXCLUDE), C (Change), DEL commands.

One really needs minimal skills to do this and hardly any JCL skill is needed. :)
