Hello,

Define a new gdg group for the backup files.

Run a copy utility to copy the current pds to the next generation of the backup pds.I suggest you talk with others who have done similar backups on your system and use the same utility process they use. It would be best if all of these were handled n a similar matter.
Hope this helps,

Hello,

i dont know what utility to use
Yes, there are multiple utilities that could be used. Your backup should use the same utility others use for backing up libraries on that system.

I suggest you talk with others who have done similar backups on your system and use the same utility process they use. It would be best if all of these were handled n a similar matter.
You should not create some new way to do this as it is already being done for other pds datasets on your system. System processes (and bgackups ar4e one of them) should be implemented consistently.

Your storage management people may already have model processes defined that you can adapt for this use.
Hope this helps,

Hello,

yeesh. well, this a homework assignment so i dont know
It is a good idea to mention that the question related to homework versus an actual requirement for some productoin system. Answers that would be acceptable for class work might not be for processes being integrated into an existing envieonment.

To do what you want, you could use the utility IEBCOPY. Look here:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... u104/3.6.1?

There are many other utility functions documented in that manual as well.
Hope this helps,
