view job history by spool..

Postby AbhiKulkarni » Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:42 pm

I have a jobID and job name through LJS and i want to look for its spool. Or say the job is forced complete. By any ways can i know the reason behind it being forced complete or why was it in the input queue for a long time?

Appreciate ur help as i am just a begginner... :)

Don't know what LJS refers to but the normal place to find job output is on SDSF (or equivalent). Ask your colleagues about it - you are only a beginner so they will not expect you to know everything straight away.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Thanks NicC,

But i am asking for a specific job ID which have run months before. SDSF will give me limited spool data. I want to look at the spool for that specific run.
The SDSF tells me 'JOB deleted by JES2 or cancelled by operator before execution.'

Some addtional information, may be helpful: The job is using TYPRUN=HOLD parameter and it was FORCED completed.

Well, if it is 'several months old' it may have been archived off the spool or deleted altogether. The only people who can help you are in your organisation. You could try finding out who FORCED it and, if they can remember that far back, why.

I think that the ISPF OUTLIST option (and the TSO STATUS command it uses) will assume a default job name space of TSO ID plus one valid character, although of course this is installation-configurable.

Some shops archive jobs in an external facility. For example, mine use ARF (Archival Retrieval Facility). You should ask around if there is something like that if your job can't be found in JES2.

Suggest you look in to the manuals for CA Workload Automation (Mainframe) and/or raise a query at their Global User Community. Here is a reference: Click.
