Problem while compressing the dataset in production

Postby PRASAD » Tue Jul 08, 2008 9:15 am

We have faced a problem while compressing the dataset in production.

What exactly happend

-Compress the dataset with 'Z' option ( huge dataset)
-after a while, disconnected the system
-it went to concel status before compression process completed
-the dataset has corrupted

We can do compress in batch mode using 'IEBCOPY' but if job fails during exection, results in corrupted dataset.
Looking forward for better approach to handle the situation. :D

Hello,

First - backup the dataset.

Second, run the compress in batch, not online.
Hope this helps,
