I'm sure Mr. Sample, Mr. Goodman and Mr. Scherrer will agree: You are asking for the work product of a professional. Professionals expect to be paid. If you are interested in paying a professional, leave a message here and someone may contact you using the private mail facility of this forum. Please be patient; few people seem to be willing to pay, so it may be some time before a qualified professional willing to perform this task will read your post.

Hello,

Again, you may be fixing the 'wrong' problem if you are not able to see the entire machine's CPU usage.
Agree. One of the first things i do is issue an SDSF DA and see what is running and how this is using cpu and i/o. Sometimes, it is glaring.

More often though, the fruit is not so low-hanging<g>

No, you do not have to pay someone. If you need things quickly, it is often a good thing to have someone you can pay for short-term services. This should be arranged by your company / purchasing. You would not personally pay.

All of the helpers here are volunteers. With that comes the understanding that not always will someone (who is proficient at what you ask) be available. It is also far more challenging to diagnose and tune when one cannot log onto the system . . .

This might take awhile. Depends on what is discovered sooner rather than later.

Have you looked at the entire system active processes (S.DA)?

samb01, we have given you our advice and recommendations -- for free. If you have trouble applying our ideas to your site, or if you want to go further and have someone look at the specifics of certain jobs at your site, you will need to persuade your management to hire a consultant. Such a consultant can provide you with detailed recommendations, but the cost will typically run 1000 US dollars or so per day, depending upon the consultant.

Thank you for all your advice.
I have a lot of work with my small icome...
To do "DA;all" i have to stay the night to see jobs running at 07h00 pm until the monrning...

You can see an example of CPU use on Thursday 02 January :

and

I think these files won't stay a long time...

So i want to run job ten by ten (for example, or 20 by twenty) every hour. Mays be it's better for the CPU and the capping of the machine ?

I'm not convinced this is the correct solution for your problem, but if you do want to go down this route then TWS has a built-in feature to limit the number of jobs running in a certain time frame. You need to add a special resource to the job and then define the special resource in the database with a MAX Usage Limit. When this limit is reached, the resource will be unavailable and no further jobs can start. Schedule a job to run at the end of the interval to issue a SRSTAT command to make the resource available again.

Hello Blackthorn, thank's it's a good idea. t's an other solution. I thought about it. But it's quite dangerous because if jobs take a long time, the special ressource will not be available for the other jobs.

I have do be wise about it.
