CICS Transaction Gateway Install Issue

I am a prof at a community college and regularly have my students install CICS Transaction Gateway. So, in the past couple of weeks about 40 have successfully installed without issue.

This time around there is 1 student where the installation fails, the message he receives is "An error occurred during Installation". There is no message code. The documentation
indicates the cause is insufficient disk space, however he has almost 250GB free, and the Temp / Tmp environment variables do point to that drive (it is also the only drive he has).
I do not think that space is the issue.

The error appears to occur at the point when the pop-up window titled "IBM CICS Transaction Gateway" appears and you would normally select your language. That never happens, so I
exploring the possibility of some sort of Java issue, perhaps involving permitted pop-ups.

I have tried CTG versions 9.1, 9.0.0.1, 8.0 and 7.2. All have the same result. I did have the student upgrade his Java version to 1.7, which is what is on my working laptop. Also, when the students
run the "installer" software they do right-click and "run as Administrator", which has been a problem for me in the past. We have tried both GUI and command prompt installation, no
difference.

So, a couple of questions.

1. Does my Java pop-up theory seem plausible? Or am I wasting my time on that possibility.
2. Does anyone know what Java settings should be in place? I currently have the student comparing screen shots of my Java (Advanced tab) settings to his.
3. As I indicated I am getting no error message codes, just message text. Does anyone know how to turn on more detailed errors, such as messages codes? For example,
a DOS-type command I would issue before I run "installer" from the command prompt?

I am doing this all by remote control since it is only occurring on my student's laptop and I cannot re-create the problem anywhere else. So I email him instructions / suggestions and
he tries them out. I will not see him live for a few days.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I should provide an update on this issue, which is now "kinda" resolved.

When my student tried to install CTG 7.2 on his own he neglected to use Windows 7 'Run as Administrator', so the install failed. When we were together
he did 'Run as Administrator" and that install actually worked. When we tried to run the Configuration tool (also as Administrator) we raised the error message
'CTG8807E Unable to find a JVM'. I found this to be really weird since he had just installed Java and everything in the Java control panel appeared normal.

But, as it turned out, he had somehow installed a true 64-bit version of Java, which was the root of all the issues. Once he installed a 32-bit version
all was in order - the Configuration tool, CICS Terminal etc all worked. He is still running on CTG 7.2 since it did work, I asked him to try CTG V8 or V9
but he wanted to get his work done first, I will remind him to try this at a later time.

We appreciate the update. It could likely help someone else with the same issue.
