TSQ TDQ applications

TSQ and TDQ are the only cics commands I have a hard time understanding. What are useful ways these two can be used? During my training, my trainer used TSQ for checking of command executions, other than that, I have no idea how these two can be used. There's also not enough example online on how these can be used, all I see is their descriptions. How can I utilize them on browsing VSAM records/DB2 tables, submitting job from cics?
