The current transactions are explained in the CICS Supplied Transactions manual.
The old ones (CSSN & CSSF) will not.....

Thank you for the replies.I wanted to know about the Expansion of these commands rather than the technical significance.

Hi,
Let me rephrase my question. My question is not the technical significance of CESN. CESN is for Signon.
My question is why the signon command is named as CESN.
for example in COBOL "Move" statement is present, from the word "Move" we clearly understand that it used to move some values.
Similarly is CESN an abbreviation for something or has some significance for its keyword.

All (IIRC) CICS provided transactions begin with the letter 'C'.
The previous signon transaction was (IIRC) CSSN.
When IBM changed it, they had to pick a different tranid.
CSMT went to CEMT, so CSSN went to CESN.
is CESN an abbreviation for something or has some significance for its keyword.
My guess is 'C' for a CICS provided transaction, 'E' for extra/expanded/(whatever), and 'SN for 'Sign oN'.....
The same goes for 'Sign ofF'.....

Hello,

My question is why the signon command is named as CESN
Many tran-id's "mean something" - many do not. Several are a kind of acronym (like CESN). Some are just the "next" value - with only 4 positions, there is not a lot of room for creativity.
Hope this helps,
