URGENT - CICS Region abnormal termination

Postby adurthisridhar » Wed Feb 16, 2011 2:28 pm

Hi,

In my environment there are around 22 CICS regions are running with TS2,.3 and 4 regions (name as CICSE*) running with CICS TS2.2. Recently, as part of LPAR consolidation, we have moved the CICSE* regions to another LPAR.

Later we found that the region is not poining to correct DB2 system. So we have modified the RCT and made it point to correct DB2 system and we have done the COLD start for the regions.

Since then, regions are comming down abnormally with the below messages.

STC16350 ---- TUESDAY, 15 FEB 2011 ----

This region abnormal termination is happening when any user logged into the system and execute any application transaction. CICS suplied transactions are working fine. We cound not find the issue and we are doing the restart on the system every time.

Could you please let us know what can be done to fix this issue?

Thanks,

What shows up when you analyze the system dump?

Sorry to keep the subject as "URGENT"

We are not sure how to analyse the system dump.

thanks,

Hello,

This could be a very long week for you. . .

If you really have no one capable of actually working with CICS, you (your management, whatever) need to immediately "rent" (if not hire) someone capable.

This region abnormal termination is happening when any user logged into the system and execute any application transaction. CICS suplied transactions are working fine. We cound not find the issue and we are doing the restart on the system every time.
Is this true or do only some transactions cause the region to abend?

Has anyone looked into the U1800 or the COMPLETION CODE 0033E000?

I do suspect that this is Urgent, but a forum is not the proper place to bring urgent problems. . .
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

No idea where to start. Something has changed in your environment, just changing to another LPAR should not be a problem. So, what are you not telling us? Did you merge several LPARs to one, do you have a new mix of CICS systems? Are you having conflicts with your DB2 descriptions for the different CICS systems. The only thing I can say is examine what worked before and compare it to the situation now, what are the differences, and take a good look at the error messages - they usually give you a hint where to look.

If it's only application programs having problems, I have to wonder if the DFHRPL is not right somehow. If some application transactions work and others don't, that would be a clue. Using IPCS to analyze the dump would definitely help.

If you don't have anyone at your site to analyze the dump, and this is an urgent issue, you really need to call in a consultant to help.

The AKEB is the kernel abending. S01D is a system abend that implies you are trying to do something hiper-spacey which requires you to be authorised, and you're not. Like maybe opening a CICS data table or something.

Check that you don't have any unauthorised libraries in your STEPLIB (this could be the case if you have moved LPARs and the APF authorisation setup is different to your old LPAR). Although I'd be surprised if CICS would start at all in this case, so this may be a complete red herring.

When you say changed to a different LPAR - what do you mean. Did your z/OS systems get moved to another LPAR, or did your CICS systems get moved to a different z/OS, or ???? Take the time and dish up some real information if you really want help. All you have going here is guess work. If you would post some real facts like describing old / new situation we can help.
