In System Control Authority, System Maintanance Authority and System Monitor Authority, the groups have been given authority to connect to the database where as they don't have authority to access to the database.

Could you please differentiate Database connect and Database Access in this aspect.
Please let me know if I am not clear in my query.

Hello,

Connect authority allows one entry to the database environment.

Access authority defines the permissions the user has to operate within the enviropnment (i.e read tables, update tables, etc).

You might think of it as a building with a "front door" and many doors in the halls inside the building. "Connect" would be the key to the front door allowing entry to the building. "Access" would be the keys to open the interior doors once one had gotten thru the front door.

Hi,

Thanks for clarifying my doubt on this.
Could you please confirm me what are all operations can a group or user perform on that database if he has only Database Connect Authority (don't have Database access authority).

Thanks & Regards,
Amit Goel

Hello,

Suggest you talk with your dbs for the specifics of your environment. There are multiple ways to configure/secure an environment.
