using an intelligent title will make people more interested in the questions You might ask
a stupid title will usually make people skip the post!

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Hello,

I suspect a bit of redesign is in order. . .

If the column can contain any non-numeric value(s), it won't sum.

If it can only contain numeric values, it should be defined as numeric :?
Hope this helps,
d.sch.
