How about the db2 manuals? Although perhaps we should be asking why you are having to ask us as you should not have been given this task if you were not competent to do it - which means you should already know that you should be looking at the manuals and asking your co-workers.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Hello,

pls help with steps to install db2 subsytem
You need to post an actual question. . .

What you have posted is so generic it is not a forum topic. We are not able to teach and we are not a manual reading service. . .

Something about the request causes me to think this is a question about db2 for LUW (Linux, Unix, and Windows) which is often installed by people with little or no experience (which is ok for learning, but causes major problems when tried "for real").

If this is a LUW install, you need to find a forum that deals with this - we are primarily a mainframe forum - especially concerning db2.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

As Dick has indicated about the possibilities -- are you, by chance, talking about DB2 Express C and/or installing DB2 on Hercules... :?

If it is Express C then a mainframe forum is not the place for this query. I have installed this - all you need to do is read the guide and follow the instructions.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

You still haven't stated if it is DB2 express on a PC or not. It sounds as though it may be but then you mention CLIST which is mainframe. So stop confusing US and tell us - mainframe or PC? What flavour of DB2?

You cannot install DB2 on Hercules, Hercules is a bare iron emulator,
You will have to install first an operating system capable of supporting db2,
but IBM will not license any to run on Hercules

and anyway apart that, the appearance of zOS will be the same on real iron and on Hercules.

so the problem for DB2 is not hardware related, just <zOS> related
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Thank you Enrico. That's a piece of information for me, Thanks again.

I knew that Hercules is a bare iron emulator and installing underlying operating System is needed to get going. I've just started trying hands on it but have not thought about installing DB2 on it and Your point comes in just in time.
