Make SMS choosing DASD M27 instead of M9

Hello,
i am part of storage team. We have a storage group with a mixed of M27 (27 Go) DASD Volume and LM9 (9 G) DFASD Volume.
I'd like to indicate SMS to choose M27 first before M9 but i didn't find a solution except using QUIECSE status in M9 and ENABLE STATUS in M27.
But i think it's not the best solution. Do you think there's an other solution ?
