Alter the name of GDG

Postby dinesh rajendiran » Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:20 pm

Can someone give me the code to alter the name of GDG which is on tape.

I tried the below IDCAMS command:

SYSIN *
ALTER GDG NAME-
NEWNAME(NEW GDG NAME)

But I received the below error:
IDC3014I CATALOG ERROR
IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 48 - REASON CODE IS IGG0CLAT-168

Please help me in this regard.

Do you have access to MVS Messages manuals? Look up IDC3009I with RC=48 and RSN=168.

You can look here http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/z/os/zos/bkserv/

Also, you will need to copy the tape to a new volume and new name because there is a tape label on the tape which contains the dataset name held on the tape. If you decide to call it something else then the label will not match the new dataset name, so S813 he were come
