Hey all,
I would like to know if there are any parameters which support optimiztaion of ADRDSSU utility? I understand that it is a hogger but are there any alternatives to it?

Any pointers in right direction will also be great help

much thanks,
AB.

Hello,

if there are any parameters which support optimiztaion of ADRDSSU utility?

Look here as well as other parts of that manual.
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... 4/3.7.4.22?

Depending on what is being copied and which software is available on the system, some process may benefit from using other utilities (like FAVER or FDR).

Thank you Mr. D for your response.

I will check on FAVER and FDR option, i.e if they are available at our end. Mr. D, Are these utilities faster than ADRDSSU?

I would also check on the OPTIMIZE option and how effective it is in reducing mips.

Thank you,
AB.

Hello,

Are these utilities faster than ADRDSSU
Sometimes - you would need to run some benchmarks using your actual data to be sure.

Usually, more cpu cycles are required when data is compressed. This is not necessarily a bad thing. The tradeoff is how much media is used and overall wall-time is needed. Sometimes backups/copies are run in a very tight time window.

Perhaps if you explained why the optimumisation is required, there may be other altermnatives to help you out.

SRDF / FLASHCOPY / SNAPSHOT for instance.
