Copying GDG

Hi.. Can i copy all the GDG files to 1 PS file ? If yes means how?

Please suggest..

Hello,

Yes, simply specify the gdg name without specifying any generation for the input dataset.

Your sort product will probably be the fastest way to copy these files.

Find any sort jcl on your system (or in this forum) and change to meet your requirement.

If you get stuck, post what you have and your doubt/error. Someone will be able to clarify.

We will help you get it running, but won't actually write it for you.

Copying the GDG base will copy the generations in reverse sequence -- most recent first, then next most recent, and so forth to the oldest generation. If you have a requirement to keep the data sequenced by generation, this solution won't accomplish that.

Yes, the suggestion was a way to "stack'em" in a single dataset (as was requested).

If there are other considerations, they should be/should have been posted. . .
