any body help me in finding out the junk value in a particular field (ex) pic x(3). the lrecl is 1074 , 81th position

You haven't given enough information. Find the "junk value" and do what? What do you consider to be "junk values"?

Show an example of the records in your input file (relevant fields only) and what you expect for output. Explain the "rules" for getting from input to output. Give the RECFM of the input file.
