Hi All,

I have one file which has got records at first two lines as below

Line 1: 1 to 46 Col is => DATADATADATADATADATADATADATADADATADATADATADATA
Line 2: 47 to 50 Col is => 0002

I need to append 47th Col of Line 1 with the value present in 47th Col of Line 2 and rest of the lines can remain as it is, output will be like
Line 1: DATADATADATADATADATADATADATADADATADATADATADATA0002

Kindly assist to get this in SORT.

Is this the same request you send me via Private message? The Private message talks about 2 different files and here you have just 1 file. which requirement is the real one?

Hi Kolusu,

I am extremely Thankful for your help..its the similar request to the one I sent in PM but here we have a single file.
Is there a way to read Line 2 record of a file and update Line 1 record using SORT...

Regards

Sending PMs, making public solicitations, are both "bad form", a mis-use of people's time. To us, the importance of your task is of no real interest. It is something that you/your organisation should have thought about and planned for much earlier. If you have something you are "keen" to see done at short notice, locate someone (even here :-) ) who can do it, and pay them.

Any good effects of your effusiveness are not long-lasting, by the way.
