That was the task given to me.when i mention the name of the input file in ''IN DD DSN=..", the output should should contain the name of the file ,its location ,no. of records in it, sum of the last 4 digit of acc number, and the timestamp.recfm is fb and lrecl is 80.They want me to do this in icetool specifically.

Unless the file is an UNIX file on z/OS I am not sure how you will get the location of the file. Do you mean the volume on which the file resides ?

Are you writing a design spec for this :?: if you don't have a mainframe id, how can you verify the control cards you have are syntax free and will produce the desired results?

There are time and date functions documented in the manual. A quick way to get to them is to search for &DATE or &TIME, although when you use them there is no need to use the &-prefixed versions. Choose, experiment (oh, no mainframe access), if you don't get to your result, tell us exactly what you require.

How are you expected to produce a "perfect control card" if you cannot test it out?

So you expect us to do your job for you? I'm not sure it'll work like that. You want us to work, we want to be paid.

.I want you to help me to do this.Tats all.

help is ...

WE give hints, sometimes a code snippet
YOU read the manuals
YOU adapt the snippet to Your environment
YOU carry on the tests

not asking for a tested solution
( sometimes You might get it, but You should not EXPECT it )
