SuperC error message - ISRS059E

Postby nkulkarni » Thu Dec 10, 2015 4:36 pm

Hi,

Stumbling upon the below error message when using SUPERC in JCL, job is failing with RC 16

ISRS059E: A SYNAD ERROR INTERCEPT ON THE NEW-FILE/DATA SET IS AN I/O ERROR, CONCATENATION ORDERING OR ATTRIBUTE CONFLICT

I went through IBM knowledge center for more info on this error message and found below details:

Explanation:
New file/data set I/O error.

System action:
The SuperC run terminates.

Programmer response:
Ensure that no unitialized data sets are included in the input file concatenation, then refer to your systems programmer. In this context, an unitialized data set is an empty sequential data set with no end-of-file marker.

I checked the list of datasets concatenated, all are PDS and can't find a PS.

Could anyone help me to understand this error message and how to fix it ?

Are you concatenating in descending order of blocksize?
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Hi NicC,

Order was random before, Now I concatenated in the descending order however I'm getting the same error message...

Do I need to concatenate in Ascending order ?

OK, there's your problem, you can't do that.

You can't mix fixed-length and variable-length on the same concatenation.

All fixed-length records must be the same.

VB used to require being in largest-blocksize first, but I don't think that's necessary these days.

It requires rather complex processing to mix FB and VB in a concatenation, which evidently SUPERC cannot handle.
