Hello.
I would like to know what is the maximum size a virtual tape storage.
I ask that because, i have a tape which contain a dataset with :
BLKCNT = 0001330928
and
BLKSIZE= 032760
with a dataset in VB.
So the size of the dataset in tape is : 1330928 X 32760 = 43601201280 bytes.
This means the size of the dataset is 46 GB so the tape can contain 43 GB. It seems to be huge...
I thought the max size was 8 GB for a tape

Re: Size of a virtual tape storage
Your thoughts are hopelessly outdated. Check https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/2.1.0?topic=method-tape-storage#tapestr__tapetab and you'll see tape capacities up to 4000 GB. The precise capacity depends upon the tape drive model.I thought the max size was 8 GB for a tape
