File Manager Compare

Postby gmosley » Fri Dec 16, 2011 3:39 am

Trying to compare two files of different lengths
File 1: HDR (50 bytes) + DATA (100 bytes)
File 2: HDR (45 bytes) + DATA (100 bytes)
Just want to compare the DATA portions. I've tried templates, mapping, everything I can think of. FM always wants to compare the whole record it seems.

Hello,

You might look into using your SORT product. Assuming both files are in the same "key" sequence.

There are some topics in the forum about comparing content using SORT (either DFSORT or Syncsort parts of the forum).
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

Thanks, Dick.
I'm not a SORT expert though I could probably figure it out.
However, I do support File Manager and everything I read in the manual indicates I should be able to do what I'm trying to do. I'd really like to understand what it takes to get a workable File Manager solution.
