How to stage 700 jobs into a chngman package at once

Hi,

I have a project in which around 700 jobs are changing and I have to check out all these 700 jobs from baseline libraries to the chgman package and. Is there anyway to checkout and stage all of them at one go instead of staging them individually.

Appreciate your help.

Please let me know if you need anymore information.

Thanks,
Prachi

Jobs, programs or other things or a mixture. That is - do you mean 'components' and are they all of the same type?

Hi Nic,

Yes all of them are same type only , in this case they are JCZ type.

Thanks,
Prachi

Well, I have not used ChangeMan for 4 years and have no access to it but as all members are in the same libraray then you could try 'S *' on the command line instead of putting an S beside each and every member. - You may have to manually scroll through and de-select those members that are not to be part of the package, if any.

Thank you Nic.
Yes we will be selecting the jobs by giving S* and we will put them in the package.
But, it seems there is no way to stage/compile them in group, most likely we will have to do one by one by writing S in front of each job.

Thanks,
Prachi

You could just try selecting 2 programs to start with and see what happens - it will either accept them both or give a message inferring that you can only do one at a time. But unless you try, or read the manual, you won't find out. What is wrong with trying? Do you think the universe is going to end if you cannot select more than one? If the universe DID end then - end of problem.

At my current shop I don't use Change-man but Change-man provides "mass-compile/stage" option; Please refer to Chapter 6 in changeman user guide.

Yes , there is a way. Have all these components (700+) names into one PS file ( make sure PS file is of FB, 8 Chars) and use batch mode to stage them.

when you select batch mode in option 5, it asks for Dataset. Give dataset which have all your 700+ component names.

CHECKOUT MODE ===> 2 (1-Online, 2-Batch)

It will checkout all 700 components one by one (automatically).

What is unclear about this:
when you select batch mode in option 5, it asks for Dataset. Give dataset which have all your 700+ component names.
