Hello,

Typically CA-7 is used for initial scheduling/submission and CA-11 for automatic restart. CA-7 does not provide automatic restart (as far as i know).
Hope this helps,

------------ CA-7 QUEUE MAINTENANCE - CPU JOB IN RESTART STATUS -----------
JOB: A CODE: U0999 LAST-STEP: ABENDCC MCNT: 001
CA-7#: 4878 JES#: 1609 NODE-NAME: LOCAL

REASON:

-- -- RESUBMIT FOR PRODUCTION

-- -- FORCE COMPLETE

-- -- CA-11 RESTART/RERUN PSEUDO:
START: END:
CC: BYPGDG: USAGE: LRTCD: = 0
CMT STATUS: JOB NOT FOUND IN CMT

-- -- SET PARM DATA FOR RMS AND RESUBMIT
PARM:

-- -- DO NOT INSERT RMS PROC BUT RESUBMIT

In the above queue maintainance screen, i.e when u give xq,job=jobname and then press F in front of jobname and then hit enter, all the options are for restarting the jobs thru CA7. The only difference is that when the requestor asks you to perform a CA11 restart, go for the third option "CA-11 RESTART/RERUN ".
In this if the job has crossed the RMS step then it will automatically bring the abended step and proc to restart. If not, ask the programmer or you manually find the step and proc and then restart it by giving the step name in the START field.

Also, you have too many tricks to perform a CA11 restart.

Hope this clarifies..

Thanks,
Vinod
