The obvious question is what does the CA-7 documentation say?

The "documentation" is the manual/manuals, guides, papers, books, publications, online help, internet web-site from vendor, fora thereon etc which describes how to use the product and how the product acts in various situations.

If you don't have such things, find out who deals with CA in your organisation, and find or obtain access to as many of the above as exist/you can.

Have you asked your site support group? IBM allows independent software vendors (such as Computer Associates) to use a certain range of SMF numbers for their software (such as CA-7). HOWEVER, there is no standard number for these products since one site may use 230 for IDMS while another uses 230 for CA-7 while another uses 230 for Xpediter. Unless you talk to someone working AT YOUR SITE, there is no way for you to know the answer to your question.

The CA-7 documentation provides you with the recommended (by CA) SMF number, but each site can change that number during installation of CA-7.
