Xfer files from MVS to z/OS

Postby johnmauro » Mon Oct 08, 2007 5:49 pm

My company has recently purchaes a z/OS box and wants to transfer files (source Code, Object, Partitioned Data sets , Cluster) from our MVS platform.
Is there a preferable methodology to accomplish this task?
Thanks,
John

It depends on what connections are between the two boxes....
Shared DASD, shared tape, FTP, to name a few.....

Hello John and welcome to the forums,

Your group might talk with the vendor where you are getting the z/OS system from and ask if they have any migration recommendations.
Hope this helps,

I've been told that we will be using DFSMS to backup and restore the data with tapes from one machine to the other.
Does anyone have any JCL examples invokinf DFSMS I can view?
Thanks,
John

ps: Thanks for the welcoming !!!
