So? Do you have a query? And you are wrong - not totally but your definitions are incorrect. The correct definition can, almost certainly, be found in at least 1 manual (and probably several thousand online, i.e. on the web, articles)

Yeah, right.

At my current employer, we have batch processes that generate reports that must be manually reviewed for correctness before the rest of the process can be submitted to complete the batch cycle. So there's a batch process that does require manual intervention. And at a previous employer, we had a CICS transaction that started up automatically when the region came up, ran in the background periodically all day long, and required no manual intervention at all.

How does your definitions fit EITHER of my systems?

It is not clear if you have/had a question or were providing some general information :?

If this is a question - a simple "rule-of-thumb":

The processing of "Online things" interacts with a terminal/user.

When someone or something submits a job that runs unassociated with a terminal, this is called often batch.
