Hello,

"Blue" or "Big Blue" are just nicknames for IBM (The color blue is usually associated with IBM).

Thanks Dick...

during my discussion with our sales team this word "BLUE" popped up along with Mainframe so worried for some time what it is? :)
I thought it is something different and time to learn new stuff again :)

A common nickname for IBM has been "Big Blue" for a long, long time, so many people will translate "Blue mainframe" to "IBM mainframe."

If you look at pictures of the 360 and 370 machines you will see that they were blue, and the CE's did actually wear blue suits, and that is why IBM got the nickname "Big Blue".
