Putty for OMVS login

Dear All,

When I try to Login OMVS(UNIX) using putty I get the below message but I am not sure what would be the application name. Has anyone tried Logging OMVS using Putty ?

Application Required. No Installation Default
Enter Application Name

That looks like the message that shows up when you attempt to connect to the wrong port. OMVS uses a different port for telnet connections than your 3270 emulator uses for connections.

Yes I accept it was my mistake in using a wrong port. Now I am able to access OMVS using putty.

Hi All,

I do have access to OMVS, but i normally login to OMVS through TSO. Can you please let me know whether loginning into OMVS through Putty is the same way we do to login to normal Unix servers ?

You'll need to talk to your site support group since the port number can be set by each site. You connect to the correct IP address on that port and respond to the prompts.
