Activating Enhanced Generic Naming (EGN)

We are in the process of going to EGN and we are putting together a project plan to do so. I resently read and was also advised that once the command SETROPTS EGN is issued that there is no need to convert the non-EGN profiles that RACF does this internally. Is this accurate? I have not personally used EGN before and want to insure our transition goes smoothly.
