Defining Page Dataset

Postby jaggz » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:53 pm

Hi,

How do we determine the size of the page dataset based on the real storage ? Are there any Manuals or Links which helps in understanding the capacity planning for PAGE dataset for a single LPAR plex.

Could anyone please direct me.

It's a good question, but the wrong question. Certainly the amount of central storage is important, but a system programmer typically allocates several page datasets. The total size of the active page datasets must be larger than the size of central storage, but how much larger depends on other issues -
  • VIO activity
  • Virtual storage use by programmers.
These items you must determine; we cannot do this work for you.
