XCF communication in Monoplex

I am curious enough to understand if we can implement XCF communication protocol in a MONOPLEX environment(single plex) ? If it is possible could anyone please point me to some manual which describes about the steps to implement.
We have two LPARs which are monoplexed but the dasd are shared by both of the LPAR, so in this scenario can we implement XCF communications ?
Any Suggestions or pointers will be appreciated.
