How to know the no of Track & Block Size with help of Record

I'm working in data loading project .
T times i recieve task to load data into PDS or ps file.

I would like to know if i have X records in my file . Then how much storage space . , Track size and block size to allocate....

The X varies from diffrent to diffrent tasks.......genrally 1 lakh to 6 lakh

Is there any formula to calculate it.................

It might be a good idea to talk with your storage admins as they may already have something you can use - many systems have a process that performs space calculation for the dasd models being used.

Hello,

Dividing the number of records expected by the number that will fit on one track gives the number of tracks required.

Divide by 15 (and round up) to find the number of cylinders required.
