Basic Architecture of a Mainframe

Hello friends!

I'm going to participate in an event at my university and I'm willing to talk about Mainframe Machines, their basic architecture, the way they work different from PC machines and etc.

Although I know a lot of it, I wonder if there are some manuals/books/references from which I could extract some mode "academic-valid" information, as I'll have to make a Summary of this work of mine.

I appreciate the help and thank you all in advance!

mode "academic-valid" information

plain bullshit, what has the POP that might be considered not academic-valid

if You know a lot of it, as You say,
it should not be a problem to rewrite in an academic-wise style what You know

but the best info on IBM systems architectures from the origins to the modern days
can be found in ...
IBM Journal of Research and Development
www.research.ibm.com/journal/rd/
IBM Systems Journal
www.research.ibm.com/journal/sj/

and to some extents
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/

as I'll have to make a Summary of this work of mine.

the rewriting might be work of Yours,
the architectural concepts/definition/implementation are certainly work of somebody else
be sure to put all the bibliographycal references,
the academic world is quite snotty about giving credit when credit is due
quite often in these cases the bibliography is longer than the speech

Yeah, that's thing I need. I already got 2 redbooks that satisfied - more than I imagined - my needs (Introduction to the New Mainframe: Large-Scale Commercial Computing and Chapter 1 and 2 of the z/OS Basics) but I'll check these other links.

I'll be giving credits and etc, the goal of this presentation is to take the mainframe concept and knowledge for other universities.

What I meant as "academic-valid" information, was that I needed some published content to have a basis for making the summary, not only the technical knowledge I have, see? Sorry, I'm from Brazil and sometimes I can't express clearly what I want in english.

Anyway, thanks again for the info and links, I'll check 'em out!
