Hi Everyone,

I have some questions to be asked can anyone answer these questions of various topics.
Simple Questions
MVS

1)Latest versions of DB2,RACF,CICS,COBOL,Z/OS?
2)how many types of address space r there?
3)Name some of the optional address space?


DB2 Question

1)Max no of concurrent user in DB2?
2)Max no of tables can be used in nested query?
3)Max no of Vol added to a storage group and how to upadate stogroup?
4)Privilege needed for creation of index??
5)Max no of rows in a page?

Iam a fresher can anyone help me with these question??

Hello jibin and welcome to the forums,

I suggest you search the IBM web sites as well as others via Yahoo or Google and look for the answers to your questions. If you find info that you need clarified, post that info here along with your question(s) about it.

I expect you will need to invest some time and effort.

as per i came to know

DB2 - DB2 9.5 (Viber)
COBOL - IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS® V4.1
By the way COBOL compilers are available for COBOL for OS/390 & VM, COBOL for VSE, COBOL for AIX. Don't confuse COBOL Standards with Compilers.
Z/OS - V1.9
CICS - CICS Transaction Server for z/OS V3.2
RACF - This depends on Z/OS version.

2)how many types of address space r there?

Z/OS and its related subsystems require address spaces of their own to provide a functioning operating system. A short description of each type of address space follows:

System Address Spaces :
z/OS system address spaces are started after initialization of the master scheduler. These address spaces perform functions for all the other types of address spaces that start in z/OS.

Subsystem Address Spaces :
z/OS requires the use of various subsystems, such as a primary job entry subsystem or JES. Also, there are address spaces for middleware products such as DB2®, CICS®, and IMS™.

Besides system address spaces, there are, of course, typically many address spaces for users and separately running programs; for example:
a). TSO/E address spaces are created for every user who logs on to z/OS.
b). An address space is created for every batch job that runs on z/OS. Batch job address spaces are started by JES.

Hello,

Something to be aware of is the the "latest" release of a product or the "max" occurrances that can be specified with a product are usually given as assignments to cause the student to make the investment to find them. Other than academics, the verison and "max" that matter to people actually dong work are the versions/maxes on the system surrently in use.

This continues to be true. Something i did not specifically mention before is that if there is a choice for me to spend time looking up info i cannot use or possibly provide guidance so someone who wants the info can look for it themself, it will rarely be me that spends a lot of time looking for this sort of info :)

more abt address space (name a few)
Everything that runs on the mainframe has an address space. It appears that you have something fairly specific in mind, but i do not know what it is. An "address space" is nothing but a set/range of addresses to be used for some purpose.
