Take Screen Shot from Mainframe Screen

Postby Chits » Wed Oct 02, 2013 8:26 pm

Hi,

I am new to this forum, don't know whether it would be right place to post my question.

I am using PCOMM/HOD as emulator on mainframes. Sometimes I need to take screen shots from mainframe screen and paste it into excel sheet at the desired location.
I am looking for MACRO that will take snap shot and paste it into the excel sheet.

Can anybody let me know how to proceed for this?

Thanks,
Chits

Hello and welcome to the forum,

As your question relates to your 3270 emulator rather than the mainframe itself, you might be better served in a forum for PCOMM or from the PCOMM support people.

Several of our users use PCOMM and maybe someone will be able to provide a "how to" reply.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

How about "maximising" your emulator window, using your normal "PrtSc" (or whatever) and "cropping" with an image editor if there is stuff you still don't want to see.?

If you have the Windoze 7 snipping tool available you could possibly use that. I haven't tried it for that task - I usually use highlight/cut/paste
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Yes, I can do with snipping tool or copy paste using PRNTSCR on the keyboard. But it is manual task and I am looking for MACRO using which it will automatically serve the purpose.

Does PCOMM use only VBA?

I've always had luck with turning on arecording, doing the thing I want, then editing the file it creates.

Are you trying to get a bitmap/jpg picture, or the entire text of the screen?

Then you want to (probably) send keys to the Windows shell, then.

That is for MSAccess, but it should be the same for you, since it's all VBA.
