Dear all,
Can anyone tell from where i can get a free CICS for Hercules or MVS 3.8j.
I have downloaded a software called KICKS which is a free version of cics but i am finding difficulty in installing it, i followed all the instructions given on their site. If any one is using KICKS with hercules please let me know the procedure to install it.

Google cics emulator and see what shows up. CICS is copyrighted software and I doubt you can convince IBM to provide a license for it. I think there are a few emulators around, although I haven't used any of them.

That includes: VTAM, NCP, RACF, JES2, and some CA products like ROSCOE, Librarian etc.

KICKS provides compatibility at the source level - not the object level but that is not really an issue.
You can create a COBOL (or C program) along with BMS maps for each. Create a PCT, PPT entry etc and off you go.
