mainframe application programming -job opportunities

I am interested in doing a course in mainframe application programming, but most of the people suggest not to....They say there is no career opportunities for freshers in this field.
I thought of joining maples chennai.
pls help me ...

Change your advisers! Tell them to get their noses out of their little toy computers and look at the real world. Mainframe sales are bouyant and more "MIPS" are usually sold than the previous year. MIPS need programmers.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

No, no, they're right. I would suggest that no one becomes a mainframe programmer.

Sorry, Ed. Totally agree. Definitely no prospects at all!!!
