What is the maximum # of files(like in select and assign, with matching JCL at the bottom) allowed in Cobol using the IBM Mainframe, with z/OS? I have searched with no luck. This is my first post, so I apologize for the newbie question. Thanks

You can always search these forums until you find a previous topic like this one.

Or, review the JCL Reference Guide under the section on the DD statement.

You will likely hit a REGION problem due to default 5 buffer allocation per file before reaching the max number of files, unless you're doing special things.
