IBM manuals can be downloaded fro free from their website - google IBM manuals download (you did that before asking, didn't you?)
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Hello,

If you want something other than manuals and are willing to purchase one or more books, suggest you look here:
http://www.murach.com/books/mainframe.htm

Which manuals or books you start with depends on what you want to learn. . .

If you are already enrolled in some course, suggest you follow that course and not branch out too quickly. "Mainframe" covers a many specialties.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.
