suggest you look it up in cobol language reference manual like I just did. It describes exactly what it does and how to use it.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Hello,

In what situation we r using REDEFINES in COBOL ?
Do not ask people to read the manuals for you. . . If you find something in a manual that is not clear, post what you found and your doubt. SOmeone will be able to clarify. This is the link to the COBOL Language Reference Manual for Enterprise COBOL:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... 0/CONTENTS

All of the IBM manuals are online and are free - you need to create a set of bookmarks for all of the manuals you want. . .

Do not post using "chat room" notation. . . - Use complete words.

All of these type topics are being deleted. When you have something "real" to ask, someone will be here. . . :|
