Any one you find easy to read. IF you do not have access to a compiler then a book with one included. 'Dummies' is a good basic book, Stern '& Stern covers the lot in depth. There are also online tutorials.

Do you not think that a topic of 'COBOL' in the COBOL section of a forum is a bit meaningless. It conveys no clue as to the contents. How about something like 'Any recommended books for learning COBOL?'
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
